Adam C. Calinger, Attorney

Adam Calinger spends his time representing persons throughout Virginia in family law and criminal law cases. Adam is an experienced attorney who can help you navigate the legal difficulties of your case.

Adam received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2006. He enjoyed his time in Charlottesville from 2003-2006, forming relationships with friends he still maintains.

After finishing law school, Adam worked in federal court for Judge James Seibert in West Virginia from 2006-2007. He learned many details about how civil and criminal cases work. His work especially focused on compliance with detailed court rules and the perils that can befall those who do not obey them.

From 2007-2012, Adam worked at the Virginia Court of Appeals for Judge James Haley Jr. The Virginia Court of Appeals is where all family law and criminal law appeals (except death penalty) go in Virginia. Adam helped Judge Haley write numerous important opinions concerning family law and criminal law.

From 2012-2013, Adam’s legal practice focused mainly on high value civil litigation. Adam was the lead attorney in a five-day civil jury trial and a three-day civil jury trial, with each case involving over a million dollars in alleged damages. Adam made opening and closing statements, conducted direct and cross examination of witnesses, and prepared and argued jury instructions. Adam has also successfully settled multiple cases for six-figure sums after mediation.

In 2014, Adam joined the Public Defender’s Office in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Adam was the lead attorney in a three-day jury trial involving charges of attempted murder and aggravated malicious wounding, which could have carried up to life in prison. He represented numerous persons charged with various sorts of crimes, receiving positive outcomes in many cases.

Adam then began working in family law in 2015 in Fairfax County, Virginia. He successfully prevailed in a two-day visitation trial in Prince William Circuit Court. He also persuaded a court to order payment of overdue child support. Adam represented family law clients in five mediations with retired judges, settling most of the cases.

Adam now runs his own law office in Stafford County, where he helps persons with criminal, traffic, and family law issues.
